Metabolic Surgery

The improvement of metabolic problems such as weight loss and type 2 diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia (lipid disorder) after obesity surgeries has brought metabolic surgery to the agenda. For the first time in 1995, Pories detected a significant decrease in blood glucose levels of patients within 24 hours after Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgery. The small intestine system is very rich in terms of both nerve impulses and intestinal hormones. With the intake of food, a serious network is achieved between the stomach, intestine and brain, both in nervous and hormonal terms. All metabolic/bariatric surgical interventions applied to patients are effective through these regulation mechanisms. Today, metabolic surgery is an accepted view all over the world due to hypertension and hyperlipidemia, especially type 2 diabetes.
